The Golden Sweet Potato Festival takes place in the fourth week of October every year in Golden, Texas, renowned as the Sweet Potato Capital of the World! Join us for this celebrated Texas community festival, recognized as one of the 'Best of Small-Town Festivals,' where we come together to honor family, friends, and our heritage.
What started as a simple community event and fundraiser has evolved into a vibrant sweet potato harvest celebration, becoming one of the largest events in Wood County, Texas! This occasion is not only a time for family gatherings and class reunions but especially for farmers to rejoice in the sweet potato harvest. Today, the festival acts as a vital link to the community, providing charitable funds for five volunteer fire departments, Meals on Wheels, local scholarships, and the Special Kids' Farm and Ranch Day, among others. If you visit the festival, you can still participate in the lively sweet potato auction, but there's so much more to experience! Who could have imagined that the Beauregard variety of sweet potato would play such a significant role in the story of this small farming town in Texas?

Every year, during the sweet potato harvest celebration at the Golden Sweet Potato Festival, applications are accepted for a local scholarship for Seniors. These scholarships are made possible by the generous donations received from our Texas community festival participants.

With the generous support from families and businesses during our sweet potato harvest celebration, we have gathered over 1,000 donated items, including trucks, dolls, bikes, clothes, and diapers. All of this goes directly back to the kiddos in need right here in our Texas community festival. Thank you for your kindness and generosity.
